Tamara Mellon’s Next Step - NY Times

Michael Ovitz and Tamara Mellon
Michael Ovitz's girlfriend, Tamara Mellon, was recently featured in this New York Times Article, Tamara Mellon's Next Step.  Mellon is the former Chief Creative Office and co-founder of Jimmy Choo, "the shoe company she helped build into a global juggernaut."  Originally from London, Mellon moved to New York last year and is currently writing a book, "described by her as a nonfiction 'entrepreneur story,' to be published next year by Penguin Press."

The article includes a brief but fascinating biography outlining her ascent into fashion, and discusses a wide range of her interests, including business, fashion, charity, psychiatry, and much more.

"In 2010, she was appointed by Prime Minister David Cameron to a business ambassador’s role, promoting Britain abroad, on the recommendation of Jonathan Marland, a member of the House of Lords and a former business associate of Ms. Mellon. The same year, she was honored by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the fashion industry.

She said she plans to set up a women’s rights foundation — Ms. Mellon admires Ms. Burch’s charity, which supports female entrepreneurs through microfinance — and she supports the Mayor’s Fund, particularly its domestic violence center in Harlem."
