Today we're listing two more articles regarding the Michael Ovitz backed restaurant venture by Top Chef Season Six winner Michael Voltaggio, ink. and ink.sack.

The first, entitled A Top Chef's Next Act and written by Jace Lacob, comes from The Daily Beast:

"Michael Voltaggio doesn’t ever take a day off.

The 32-year-old Top Chef winner doesn’t sleep, either. He’s preparing to launch his first solo restaurant, ink., designing his own dinnerware collection (fittingly called Voltage), writing a cookbook with his brother and fellow Top Chef finalist Bryan, dreaming of a designer T-shirt line, and overseeing the design and construction on ink.sack, a top-secret conceptual restaurant that will open Thursday in Los Angeles."

The second article comes from the Hollywood Reporter, entitled, The Eat Sheet: Thomas Keller and Michael Voltaggio Do Affordable Eats.

"Food bloggers — invited to preview the décor of his long-awaited restaurant Ink, on Melrose Avenue — were afterwards taken next door to see his new sandwich space … which he announced would open in 48 hours.

The chef, known for his virtuoso experiments in molecular gastronomy, passed out much less complicated fare to the small crowd. The fare includes the C.L.T. sandwich (chicken liver mousse, curried chicken skin, lettuce and tomato) and a beef tongue Reuben. Most of the items on the menu are priced between $4 and $6."

Michael Ovitz Backing Michael Voltaggio's new spots, ink and ink.sack

Michael Ovitz was quoted in Variety's recent article on Bravo "Top Chef" Season six winner Michael Voltaggio's new restaurants, ink and ink.sack, both backed by Ovitz. Ovitz "contends that while he's not a foodie, he has spent much of his life going out to lunch and dinner. And Voltaggio's cuisine wows him".

"His cooking is at the very top of my list," Ovitz says.

"The fine dining restaurant, ink, will open in the space formerly home to Japanese eatery Hamasaku, also underwritten by Ovitz. Until then, food enthusiasts and TV fans can make do with Voltaggio's creative take on sandwiches dispensed from a modest, storefront takeout shop with an affordable menu called ink.sack on Melrose Avenue."

One of the anticipated aspects of the space is the artwork from Ovitz's extensive personal collection, which will hang in the Cliff Fong-designed dining room.

When asked if it helps to have the "Top Chef" hype surrounding a restaurant, Ovitz agreed. "But when you cut through it all, it's all about the food. If the food is great and the chef committed -- and not a guest chef at his own restaurant -- you usually have a shot."

On September 11, 2011, Beverly Hills will observe the 10th anniversary of those tragic events that befell our country and affected people from all over the globe. Save the date and join us for the realization of our community coming together for this meaningful remembrance and the dedication of the Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial Garden.

Michael Ovitz is a benefactor of this project along with many others in the Beverly Hills community, which has relied heavily on support from private citizens. No City funds have been or will be used to create or construct this Memorial site.
