Michael Ovitz and Marc Andreessen Interview at All Things Digital

We've featured this dialogue between Michael Ovitz and Marc Andreessen (Netscape founder and Silicon Valley venture capitalist) before, however the page look and link has changed slightly thus we thought it fitting to update. The interview between Andreessen and Ovitz was featured on All Things Digital, a Wall Street Journal blog hosted by Kara Swisher.

The video of the interview is approximately an hour; link to the full article here.

A brief excerpt:

"There is no question that legendary entrepreneur Marc Andreessen is a power player in Silicon Valley.

Nor that Michael Ovitz, who used to be the power player in Hollywood, is one of the people who did most to disrupt the way business was done in the entertainment industry, with his bare-knuckle approach at his groundbreaking Creative Artists Agency.

So, if you put them together, as happened recently at the Sand Hill Road offices of the Andreessen Horowitz venture firm, you get what turned out to be a very interesting discussion."

Michael Ovitz Makes Sotheby's Appearance

Michael Ovitz appeared in this N.Y. Times article on the recent Sotheby's sale of contemporary art, the highlight of which was Andy Warhol's 1964 work "Sixteen Jackies”, selling at $20.2 million. Apparently this constituted a 'slow night' for Sotheby's, as "the evening totaled $128.1 million, just above its low $120 million estimate."

Pictured is Warhol's "Sixteen Jackies", sold by Peter Brant, a Connecticut newsprint magnate with large holdings of Warhols. We are not aware whether Michael Ovitz, one of the top art collectors in the world, made any purchases on the evening.
